RECYCLING CITY UŞAK

Reduce, transform, reuse; leave a livable world for your children! As the world’s population grows, so does the amount of waste. With each waste, our world becomes polluted, sickened, and sadly, slowly dying. This is where the importance of recycling comes into play. Recycling waste helps the world breathe a little easier.

Our future depends on recycling! Uşak, which contributes to the economy and the environment by recycling 2,716 tons of products daily, leads the way in recycling. It brings significant advantages in carbon and water emissions through recycling textiles, leather, plastic, aluminum, and rubber, especially in the textile recycling sector, covering 72% of the total according to TOBB industrial data. Its importance has further increased with the declaration signed by 32 global brands on recycling at the 2018 G7 summit.

The capital of recycling: UŞAK… Annually;

  • 708,000 tons of unused industrial textile waste are transformed into blankets, socks, sweaters, and fabrics.
  • 162,000 tons of small and large animal hides contribute to the leather confectionery, accessory, furniture, cosmetic, food, and wool product industries.
  • 90,000 tons of used plastic are turned into fiber and plastic raw materials.
  • 10,000 tons of used vehicle tires are repurposed for children’s play areas and steel.
  • 8,000 tons of scrap aluminum are converted into aluminum powder and foil granules. This way, 978,000 tons of raw materials are recycled annually, preventing the pollution of our environment for thousands of years and contributing to the needs of various industries.

Recycling means labor, jobs, power, and development. We take pride in being pioneers in the recycling sector in Turkey as the province of Uşak. Uşak demonstrates its importance in the recycling industry by employing 20,000 people.

Recycling is the only option to combat drought! Research in the textile sector shows that producing 1 kilogram of cotton textile products requires 10,000 liters of water from cotton cultivation to the clothing stage. In other words, 10,000 liters of water are used for just 2 pairs of jeans or 4 t-shirts. While Turkey’s water consumption is 58.1 billion cubic meters, Uşak Textile Recycling Sector alone saves 4.8 billion cubic meters of water annually by preventing its use in industry and cotton irrigation. In these days when drought is increasing, and global measures are needed, we take great pride in being a province that preserves 8.2% of Turkey’s water.

Recycling is yours; recycling is our future… We make significant contributions to agriculture and livestock with cotton-free cotton and wool production! Thanks to recycling, an annual area of 3,950,000 hectares can be used for planting non-cotton crops.

The only thing that cannot be recycled is time; don’t let what you throw away be our future.

As the Recycling City of Uşak, we take care of our future and our world. We reduce, transform, and reuse because we know that recycling is essential for the future of the world!
